This fall, on October 30th, 1999 at 4:00pm, 7:00pm, and 10:30pm,
LSC will have presentations of
Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace.
That's the day before Halloween!
Therefore,
The Jedi Council's LSC Ambassadors are proud
to announce the
LSC Star Wars Costume Contest
Saturday, Oct 30th, 1999, at 10:00pm in front of 26-100.
How will it happen?
All contestants will meet outside 26-100 before 10:00pm. This allows
both our 7:00pm and our 10:30pm attendees to enter the contest. Those who
attend the 7:00pm showing will only have to wait about 15 minutes after the
movie is over; those coming to the 10:30 show will have about 15 minutes to
go to their seats, once the contest is over.
Anybody who enters the contest and wants to see the 10:30 show will be
able to reserve a seat as long as they arrive before 10:00pm.
What about the 4:00pm show?
We will have Halloween for people that come dressed
up in a Star Wars (any episode) costume, including kids. Remember that
one child 10 and under gets in free with one adult admission!
What are the prizes?
At this moment we are still looking for exact prizes, but we know that there
will be:
- 1st prize
- 2nd prize
- 3rd prize
- Lots of halloween candy for everybody who is in a costume
Prizes are likely to include (no promises yet, since we are still in
search of them) things like LSC passes, gift certificates, and food.
Who will judge?
The Jedi Council has appointed a selected group of LSC members,
both from the Executive Committee and General Committee, to
be the judges of this contest. The exact size of the committee is yet
TBD, but will be no less than 3 and no more than 6. The identities of
the judges will be kept secret until the day of the event.
Who can participate?
Any person of the MIT community can participate, you don't even have
to stay for the show... but why would you dress up and not stay!
Do I have to dress up like a Star Wars character?
Only those dressed in Star Wars costumes will win prizes, but everybody
in a costume will get candy.
Do I have to dress up to participate?
Yes, and 'Black Tie' does not count unless you are dressed
as a black Tie Fighter! (ie, wear real costumes!)
