The Postman Always Rings Twice (1946) A classic example of film-noir. Lana Turner and John Garfield are superb as the lovers in this story of dark sexuality, corruption, and retribution. Based on the novel by James M. Cain, the film relises on subtle innuendo, rather than graphic details, to express the Cain world of violence and sin.
113 min, rated NR
Times:
7:30pm in 10-250

Saturday, October 11 and Sunday, October 12
Hamlet (1996) Shakespeare's tragedy of a young man haunted by his father's murder, directed by and starring the Bard's greatest modern interpreter, Kenneth Branagh. Branagh's gift for marrying Shakespeare's language to modern filmmaking shows us a driving, action-filled story in which everything intertwines, the actions and speeches of every plot and subplot all leading inexorably onward. The cast features Julie Christie, Billy Crystal, Ge'rard Depardieu, Charlton Heston, Derek Jacobi, Jack Lemmon, Rufus Sewell, Robin Williams, and Kate Winslet. There will be a brief intermission during the show.
