A FREE Lecture event:

31 Hours 4 Minutes: Setting the Coast-to-Coast Driving Record

April 29, 2008 at 7:00 pm in 6-120

Funded in part by the UA.

In 2003 Alex Roy made his debut on the internatinal road rally scene and has since taken it by storm in his Team Polizei BMW M5, a german ex-cop car. In 2006 he finished first in the Gumball 3000 road rally and later that year, went on to reset the coast-to-coast world record from 32:07 to 31:04.

Join us for a talk given by Alex Roy and hear his first-hand account of breaking the time record for the cross-country run dubbed the "Cannonball Baker Sea-to-Shining-Sea Memorial Trophy Dash." He will also discuss the logistical analysis used to plan the route, proper use of transportation gadgets, strategies for safely getting from Point A to Point B -- faster, and the future of in-car user-interfaces.

The BMW M5 that he used to break the record will also be at the event!
